uConnect Show & Tell: Michigan State, Tulane & Villanova — Bringing Cohesion to Decentralized, Multi-Career-Center Campuses
In our latest uConnect Show & Tell, teams from Michigan State University, Tulane University, and Villanova University shared how they use uConnect to unify decentralized, multi-career-center campuses — offering a look at what's working, what's tricky, and how they've structured collaboration across colleges.

Event highlights:
- Michigan State aligned their site structure around "interest areas" that mirror the Office of Admissions framework — creating a seamless experience from prospective student through graduation, and pairing college-specific advisors with interest-area expertise
- Villanova positioned their platform as a university-wide professional development hub (not just a career center site), empowering academic departments — like English — to own and manage their own pages with light-touch training and support
- Tulane consolidated their entire career center presence into a single uConnect site — no separate department websites — organized by pathways, skills, and career center area, cutting down on the number of places content needs to be maintained
- All three rely on a small core content team + subject matter expert review model, with governance ranging from tightly managed (MSU) to intentionally "loose" to encourage adoption (Villanova)
- Common tools for routing students to the right office/advisor: "schedule an appointment" buttons, smart tagging, and Handshake permission settings — since students often don't self-identify by college
- Launch strategies varied, but all three found that word-of-mouth and tailored, in-person promotion (at advisor meetings, orientation, employer events) outperformed one-time splashy launches
- Cost-sharing models differ by campus — from fully centralized budgets to annual negotiated splits based on enrollment or usage — with no one-size-fits-all approach
