Enable keyboard navigation on Mac

Mac and Safari have special accessibility settings that need to be enabled for keyboard navigation (this is not specific to uConnect!).

If you are navigating through the Virtual Career Center on a Mac, you may need to enable certain browser and operating system settings for a better experience in Safari and Firefox.

This is not a problem with the Virtual Career Center platform.
Users who navigate primarily or exclusively by keyboard will already have these settings enabled, and they'll have previously encountered a similar experience on other websites.

Enabling Full Keyboard Access on Mac

The instructions vary by operating system version. If you do not see similar settings, visit Apple's guide to Navigate your Mac using Full Keyboard Access.

Navigate to System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard navigation and set the toggle to the "on" position.

If you are still experiencing difficulty with keyboard navigation, check your browser settings.

Enabling Tab navigation in Safari

Option-Tab is the default behavior used to navigate through standard links.

By default, the Tab key will only jump to interactive elements, such as <button> elements (these are different from links that visually look like buttons) or elements that have specifically included a tabindex.

You can change the default behavior through your Safari settings. Navigate to Safari > Settings... > Advanced > Press Tab to highlight each item on a webpage. This reverses the behavior and makes Option-Tab exclude standard links.

If you are still experiencing difficulty with Tab navigation in Safari after enabling this setting, restart Safari.

Safari on iPad

The option listed above is not available on iPads; the Option-Tab combination must be used instead.
