How to enable and configure your Curation Kits

A how-to guide to activate your Curation Kits and select your preferred settings.

Once you've selected a Curation Kit you'd like to activate, setting it up is a breeze. Follow these quick steps to turn on your Curation Kit(s) today!


Step 1: Choose which kit(s) to activate

Under Manage>Curation Kits, you can activate the number of kits you have purchased by clicking the "Settings" option underneath each of the kits.


Step 2: Map your community

In the configuration screen, you'll first be prompted to select a Community from the dropdown list. This list will show all active communities on your platform. The community you select from this list will automatically be applied to every new piece of content that's imported via this kit. This means, that the content from this kit will automatically curate to the relevant identity community of your choice.


Step 3: Turn on the activation status

Next, you'll be prompted to turn on the activation toggle. You only need to turn this on once, when you first configure the kit. This tells the system to treat the kit as 'active' and to follow the workflow and content preferences settings you'll select next.


Step 4: Allow the kit to sync content

Under the Settings section, you'll be prompted to turn on the Sync toggle. This will tell the system to sync kit content into the dashboard. In the future if you ever want to pause the import of any new content in this kit (but still maintain any content the kit has already imported), you can turn this off to pause the kit. It takes 24 hours for the content of the kit to populate into your uConnect platform.

Please Note: After initial activation, 3 pieces of content will publish per week, per kit. This is intentional to allow for a slow, continuous influx of content. If you do not see the Curation Kit content populate on the intended Community page, please reach out to our support team because most likely your widgets need to be properly configured.


Step 5: Select your content publication preferences

For each type of content available within a kit, you can choose from three publication options:

  • Do not import: this type of content will not be imported via this kit

  • Import as pending: this type of content will be imported to a pending status, for your institution's approval before publication

  • Auto-publish: this type of content will be automatically published upon import for a maintenance-free approach

Keep in mind, a uConnect team member is reviewing every single piece of content that's imported through these kits so rest assured there are human eyes vetting the content to ensure it's relevant, appropriate, and career-focused.

Don't forget to hit save at the bottom of the page after you've configured your kit preferences!

We highly recommend turning on the Auto-Publish feature. One of the major benefits of these kits is their ability to fully take something off your plate. If you choose to import content as pending, you'll need to manually approve and publish every piece of content imported through this kit. If you choose not to import a particular type of content, you'll miss out on some of the valuable resources and advice available to your students!


Pausing a kit

If you'd like to pause a kit to stop it from importing future content, you can do so by toggling off the Sync toggle in the settings section.


Deactivating a kit

If you'd like to deactivate a kit to delete all existing content and prevent any future content from syncing, you can do so by selecting the red deactivate button at the bottom of the screen.


That's it!

Don't forget to save your changes at the end, and watch as your kit starting syncing content and support to your virtual career center! Once your content syncs, you can begin exploring all the content that has pulled in under Publish>Curation Kits Content.
