Edit a page URL (slug)

The URL for a specific page is called a slug, which you can edit or shorten to make it more easily discoverable to your site visitors.

A URL slug is the exact address of a specific page or post on your site. uConnect automatically assigns a URL slug for each new page, post, or collection item based on its title.

For example, if you create a custom page titled "Science and Research," its automatic URL slug is http://www.sitename.universityname.edu/science-and-research.

For marketing purposes, you may wish to edit a slug by shortening it or bringing it into alignment with similar pages. For example, the slug of the Marketing Consulting Club could be shortened from /marketing-consulting-club to /mcc. You can edit slugs for both Communities and Custom Pages.

Please Note: There are certain Community page URL slugs that you cannot edit or change, such as your "Student," "Employer, "Alumni," and "Faculty & Staff" communities which may have a different name like "Undergraduate Students." We cannot edit this URL because those are tied to specific user roles in our system, which handle things like permissions (who can access the admin, who can edit posts, etc.). They're reserved terms and our code expects those exact terms to be used. In these cases, we recommend changing the "Name" or title of the page instead.
