What is the Experiences Module and key functionalities?

To build relevant skills for a desired career path, students seek out a variety of experiences during their college years to ensure they’re prepared for what’s next after graduation but also to explore their strengths and interests, and career services teams are frequently trying to promote all the different ways students can upskill. The Experiences Module allows you to publish and feature whatever opportunities you want to promote to students and other stakeholders to continue to foster their career development and exploration. Here’s just a sample of the many types of experiences you can publish:

  • Study abroad programs

  • Volunteer trips

  • Employer treks

  • Employer-sponsored challenges

  • Research projects

  • Scholarships + fellowship programs

  • and more!

Experiences are designed to make it easy for students to see insight on the experience itself, application information, and content on the sponsoring organization, whether that be a partner university, employer, or non-profit. And it’s easy for you to publish them throughout your uConnect platform, particularly on your Communities pages, to enhance the quality and variety of content available to students and your stakeholders.

In addition, we have an external experience library, including Forage, who partners with Fortune 500 companies in top industries to create virtual job simulations to replicate what it’s like for someone to work at their company and complete an actual project that they’d work on if they were in that role, such as a financial analysis spreadsheet for PwC. Forage’s bite-sized virtual job simulations take an average of five hours to complete and simulate projects or tasks that employees at a particular company would complete. Forage courses are automatically available, for free, in the backend of your uConnect virtual career. Once you publish an experience from Forage, it will automatically show up on your public-facing Experiences library.

Why take advantage of the Experiences Module and how does it support your work?

Not all students and job seekers have access to equal opportunities and resources, so that’s why we not only wanted to give our clients the ability to showcase the experiences at their own institutions and make them accessible to their stakeholders, but it was also important for us to partner with Forage who provides free, virtual skill-based projects with top companies so no matter the extent of a student’s network, they can try out what it’s like to work at these companies in various roles. Students who complete these simulations are 2x more likely to get an interview, and 4x more likely to receive an offer. The Experiences Module saves career professionals time to source, vet, curate, and publish experiences to enhance experiential learning initiatives via the external experiences library.

How to take advantage of the Experiences Module?

To activate the Experiences Module, please reach out to your success manager to start the process, and once you’re ready to activate it, you’ll gain immediate access to the ability to publish your own experiences and import any of the thousands of experiences from Forage in the External Content Library. We’ll flip the switch and then you’ll be ready to publish, create and import!
