Understanding AI Search Behavior on uConnect
How does AI Search behave?
AI Search can appear as a chatbot widget in the lower-left or lower-right corner of a page. It is not dependent on the browser being used, and most AI Search queries are not case-sensitive. AI Search also cannot read the contents of embedded Tableau dashboards, PDFs, or Word documents unless supporting plain-text context is added.
Where can the AI Search widget appear?
AI Search can be displayed as a chatbot widget in either of these positions:
- Lower-left corner of the page
- Lower-right corner of the page
The widget placement can be adjusted in the admin dashboard under Customize > AI Search.
Is the AI Search widget placement browser-dependent?
No. Widget placement is not dependent on the browser being used.
Is AI Search case-sensitive?
Most AI Search queries are not case-sensitive. In some cases, a specific query may be intercepted by safety guardrails before the search process runs.
Why might AI Search not surface embedded content?
AI Search cannot read what is inside embedded Tableau dashboards, PDFs, or Word documents. To make that content more discoverable, add AI Search Context in a hidden text field with a plain-text summary, key takeaways, labels, or data points that students may search for.
Where can AI Search Context be added?
AI Search Context can be added to:
- Blog posts
- Resource posts
- Pages
It is invisible on the live page but readable by AI Search.
Are there page types where AI Search Context is not available?
AI Search Context is not yet available on:
- Community pages
- Experiences
For embeds on those page types, a hidden-div workaround can be used.
