uConnect Workshop: How to Upload Outcomes Data

In this workshop, we walk through how to upload outcomes (first destination) data into your uConnect platform — covering data formatting guidelines, the upload process, common errors to avoid, and a side-by-side look at standard access versus the upgraded Outcomes Data Visualization (ODV) module.

Workshop highlights:

  • All customers can now upload outcomes data for free and it can power more specific, major-level responses in AI Search
  • Data formatting follows the NACE First Destination guidelines by default, with a downloadable CSV template pre-built with the correct column headers (required and optional)
  • Common formatting errors include using commas instead of semicolons to separate multiple majors, blank cells in the outcome type column, unsupported symbols (like ampersands or dollar signs), and slightly mismatched column names — the platform flags these as errors (must fix) or warnings (can bypass)
  • You can include student email and user ID (optional, and securely protected) to eventually connect outcomes to the upcoming engagement scoring feature — this data is never exposed in AI Search
  • Support is available for the heavy lifting: submit a ticket for a secure, hands-on data cleanup from the support team, or use uConnect's ready-made AI cleaning prompt with a tool like Claude
  • If a customer has purchased the upgraded Outcomes Data Visualization (ODV) module, it includes a public-facing landing page, embeddable charts for institutional web pages, custom filterable columns for unique data points (like internship participation), and the ability to embed outcomes widgets directly on academic community pages
  • Data can be uploaded all at once or in batches by year, and everyone — regardless of ODV — gets an internal preview of their data visualization before deciding whether to go public
