Outcomes Data Visualization (ODV) File Checklist
To upload your Outcomes data file successfully, use the checklist below to confirm it meets all requirements before submitting. Following these steps in order ensures your file is correctly formatted, contains valid column headers, and is free of errors that would prevent processing.
Outcomes Data File Checklist
Review and understand these NACE First Destination guidelines to format your outcomes data file.
Review the NACE First Destination guidelines to format your outcomes data file.
- If your institution has access to the Outcomes Data Visualization (ODV) module configured for MBA and Specialty Master's Programs, follow the MBA CSEA Guidelines to format your data instead of the NACE First Destination guidelines.
Navigate to Publish > Student Outcomes > Upload Data and download your unique template. The template includes all required columns for your ODV file. Add your data to the downloaded template before uploading.
Your file can include multiple graduation years, so you can upload a single consolidated outcomes file covering all class years. For example, if you are uploading outcomes data for multiple class years, you can combine them into one
.csvfile.Include only one student type per file, such as undergraduate students. To upload outcomes data for a second student type — such as Master's or PhD students — a second Outcomes Data Visualization module will be required. Contact your Customer Success Manager for more information.
Ensure all column headers match exactly the column names in your downloadable template (available at Publish > Student Outcomes > Upload Data) and the formatting guidelines referenced above. Even small variations — such as extra spaces or symbols — will prevent the file from being processed correctly. For example, using
Academic Division-Schoolinstead ofAcademic Division/Schoolwill cause the upload to fail.Ensure your file is free of spelling errors and contains no extra spaces in column headers or entries. A misspelling or extra space can create duplicate entries and disrupt the file upload.
Include one row per student record. Each row must include one of the identified Outcome Types listed in the formatting guidelines (for example, Employed Full Time or Seeking Continuing Education). Remove all unique identifiers — including names, email addresses, student numbers, and IDs — from the file before submission.
After completing all steps above, upload your Outcomes data file at Publish > Student Outcomes > Upload Data.
Then, navigate to Publish > Student Outcomes > Upload Data. Here, you can download your unique template that includes all the necessary columns for your ODV file. You can then add your data to the downloaded template prior to uploading.
Your file can include multiple graduation years per file, so you can upload one “master” outcomes file for all your class years. For example, if you are planning to upload 2021, 2022, and 2023 outcomes data, you can upload them as one csv. file.
Only include 1 student type PER FILE, such as undergraduate students. If you would like to upload another data set for Master’s or PhD student outcomes, in addition to Undergraduate outcomes, you’ll need to purchase a second Outcomes Data module, so please reach out to your Customer Success Manager for more information.
Please ensure that all of your columns have header titles and that they match EXACTLY to the chart guidelines below and your downloadable template. Even small variations, such as extra spaces or symbols, in column header titles can prevent your file from being processed correctly. Example, if you had “Academic Division-School” instead of “Academic Division/School” for the first column, we could not upload your file successfully because it does not match the chart guidelines.
Ensure your file is free of spelling errors and that there are no extra spaces in your column headers and entries. A misspelling or extra space can cause your file to create duplicate entries and impact the file upload.
Your file should contain one row/record for the data collected for each individual student. Unique identifiers (i.e. names, emails, student numbers, IDs) MUST be removed from the file before submission. Each row should include one of the identified Outcome Types as listed in the formatting guidelines (ex: Employed Full Time, Seeking Continuing Education, etc.)
Once you have followed the above guidance and resources, please upload your outcome data file from Publish > Student Outcomes > Upload Data.
