Change the order of Community filters

Learn about filters:

You can tag any type of content on your platform — Jobs and Employers, Events, People, Resources, and more — to specific Communities. When users explore content on your platform, they can select a Community filter to view only relevant content.

Adjust your Community tag categories:

To control which category of Community tags (e.g., Career Community tags vs. Affinity Community tags) appears first in the filter options, adjust the Order of the Parent Tag.

Parent Tags are the tags under which Communities are organized. For example, 'Career Communities' would be the Parent Tag for Communities like 'Healthcare' and 'Business and Finance.'

To move all Communities under one Parent Tag higher in your filter list, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Manage > Communities.
  2. Search for the Parent Tag you want to edit. (Tip: Parent Tags appear in green text at the top of your Communities list.)
  3. Select the Parent Tag to open it for editing.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and locate the Order field.

Order values work as follows: order 1 appears first, order 2 appears second, and so on. All content defaults to an order of 0, which places it below any items with a numbered order.

Based on where in the list of filters you want that category of Communities to appear, choose an order number and hit save!

The video below shows the filter order change in action: Affinity Communities initially appear above Career Communities, but once the order is updated, they switch positions. Note: Content Category tags (e.g., Event Tags) always appear above Community Tags in the filter list.

If there are categories of Communities you'd like to include as filters for your content that aren't appearing on the front end, please submit a support request and we can update your filter settings.
