Understanding the Experiences Module
What is the Experiences Module and key functionalities?
Students seek out a variety of experiences during their college years to build relevant skills, explore their strengths and interests, and prepare for life after graduation. At the same time, career services teams are constantly working to promote the many ways students can upskill. The Experiences Module lets you publish and highlight curated opportunities for students and other stakeholders, supporting their career development and exploration. Here’s just a sample of the many types of experiences you can publish:
Study abroad programs
Volunteer trips
Employer treks
Employer-sponsored challenges
Research projects
Scholarships + fellowship programs
and more!
Each Experience gives students a clear view of the opportunity itself, application details, and information about the sponsoring organization — whether that's a partner university, employer, or nonprofit. You can publish Experiences throughout your uConnect platform, including on your Communities pages, to enrich the content available to students and stakeholders.
In addition, uConnect includes an External Experience Library featuring Forage — a platform that partners with Fortune 500 companies to create virtual job simulations. These simulations replicate real work scenarios, such as completing a financial analysis for PwC, and take an average of five hours to complete. Forage experiences are automatically available at no cost in the backend of your uConnect platform. Once you publish a Forage experience, it will automatically appear in your public-facing Experiences library.
Why take advantage of the Experiences Module and how does it support your work?
Not all students and job seekers have access to equal opportunities and resources. That’s why the Experiences Module empowers career teams to showcase opportunities at their own institutions — and why uConnect has partnered with Forage to provide free, virtual skill-based projects with top companies. Regardless of a student’s network or background, they can explore what it’s like to work at leading organizations in a variety of roles. According to Forage, students who complete these simulations are 2x more likely to get an interview and 4x more likely to receive a job offer. The Experiences Module also saves career professionals time by making it easy to source, vet, curate, and publish experiences through the External Experience Library — enhancing your institution's experiential learning initiatives.
