What is a dynamic community?
There are two types of communities: static and dynamic. This article addresses dynamic communities. Dynamic layouts are the default format for communities.
Unlike static communities, dynamic ones don't display fixed content; they function like a blog feed. Dynamic communities are perfect for displaying your content in real-time as it's published.
Any published blog post tagged with a community will show up on the corresponding dynamic community page.
As you set up your dynamic community page, choose between a Vertical Layout:
Or a Horizontal Layout:
Select the dynamic template:
- Under the Manage tab in the left-hand side menu of your dashboard, select Communities
- Locate the community that you wish to update and click Edit
- Scroll down to Featured Content and select Featured Articles for the Vertical Layout
- If you'd like to opt for the Horizontal Layout, check the Horizontal Layout box, as well
Note: If you change the Featured Content setting back and forth from static to dynamic, you won't lose the content you entered in the fields of the alternate setting. Simply switch the setting from Featured Articles back to Static Blocks (or vice versa), click update, and the content will be restored
