[Manage Your Communities & Content Categories](https://support.gouconnect.com/en/articles/manage-your-communities-content-categories) # Manage 'Content Categories' **Content Categories** are a customizable part of your uConnect platform that allow you to organize your content even further within a given content type. Each content type that you have in your platform will have a unique set of content categories that you can add, edit and tag content to. Content categories accomplish three basic purposes for your platform: 1. They **label and organize content** within your dashboard, allowing you to easily evaluate and find content 2. They provide filters for subscribers to determine the blog posts, events, jobs and resources they wish to **receive in their alerts** 3. They enable site visitors to **filter** through content on the front-end to find content that is most relevant to them Follow the steps below to learn how to organize your content categories! # Add a Content Category: 1. Click the **Manage** tab in the left-hand side menu of your dashboard 2. Hover over **Content Categories** and click the content type for which you wish to create a category (e.g., **Event Categories**) 3. Click **Add New** 4. Type the name of the new category 5. Click the **Manage** tab in the left-hand side menu of your dashboard 2. Hover over **Content Categories** and click the content type for which you wish to delete a category (e.g., **Event Categories**) 3. Locate the category that you wish to delete 4. Hover over the category and click **Delete** 5. A prompt will appear to confirm your choice; select **Ok** ![](https://support.gouconnect.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/Delete+a+Content+Category-2.gif) **Note**: Deleting a category does not delete content associated with that tag # Edit a Content Category: 1. Click the **Manage** tab in the left-hand side menu of your dashboard 2. Hover over **Content Categories** and click the content type for which you wish to delete a category (e.g., **Event Categories**) 3. Locate the category that you wish to edit 4. Select **Edit** 5. Edit the category as desired 6.
