uConnect Workshop: Community Pages Architecture 101
In this workshop, we walk through uConnect's Community pages — the core infrastructure behind how your platform organizes and tags content — plus a step-by-step framework for tackling a Community restructuring project.
Workshop highlights:
- What Communities actually are: Communities are content hubs that display tagged content on a single page — and they also function as the tagging structure across your entire platform. You can spot a Community page by the word "channels" in its URL.
- How Communities are structured: Most platforms use a two-tier system of community groups (parent communities) and sub communities nested underneath them, with the option to layer sub communities even further. New community groups require a support ticket, but sub communities can be added anytime from your Manage dashboard.
- Where Communities show up: Beyond menus, Communities power content filters, account sign-up preferences, and targeted email segmentation — making them one of the most impactful page types on your platform.
- Key settings to know: From header options and the dynamic feed to visibility settings (global, filter, and sign-up visibility), this workshop breaks down exactly what each setting controls and when to use it.
- A step-by-step guide to Community revamps: For teams considering a summer restructuring project (like consolidating 15 career communities into 8), this workshop lays out an 8-step process — from requesting new community groups to retagging content to sunsetting old pages.
