Promoting AI Search to Your Students
AI Search is available to your students automatically — but awareness and adoption don't happen on their own. This guide gives you ready-to-use language and strategies to introduce AI Search to your student community, build excitement, and drive the login behavior that makes the experience most valuable.
AI Search Marketing Toolkit
Coming Soon! We'll be linking our AI Search Marketing Toolkit in this article for comprehensive guidance on marketing this new feature to all of your stakeholders.
Before You Communicate: Two Things to Get Right
Before you start promoting AI Search, make sure two foundational pieces are in place:
- Automated Subscriber Uploads — This ensures your students can log in and be recognized by the platform. If this isn't set up yet, check your admin dashboard under Engage → Subscribers → Automate Subscriber Uploads, and loop in your IT team if needed. Review these instructions on how to get started.
- Your VCC content is in good shape — AI Search can only surface what you've published. Before sending students to explore, make sure your most important resources, events, and community pages are up to date.

Email Template: Introducing AI Search Subject: Introducing AI Search — a smarter way to find career resources Hi [Student Name], We've been working on something exciting, and it's finally here. AI Search is now live on [Institution Name]'s Career Center — and it's going to change how you find the resources, opportunities, and support you need. Instead of scrolling through search results or trying to remember what to type, just ask a question in your own words. Things like: • "What internships are available in healthcare this summer?" • "How do I prepare for a consulting case interview?" • "What resources are available for first-generation students?" AI Search will find the most relevant resources, events, and opportunities from our career center and show you exactly where to find them. The best part? When you're logged in, it personalizes results just for you. [Log In & Try AI Search →] Questions? Stop by [office location/hours] or email us at [contact email]. Hi [Student Name], A few weeks ago we introduced AI Search — a smarter way to explore career resources on your VCC. If you haven't had a chance to try it yet, now is a great time. When you're logged in, AI Search personalizes results based on your profile — so the resources you see are the ones most relevant to your year, your goals, and your community. Try asking something you've been wondering about: • "What companies recruit students from [Institution Name]?" • "Are there mentors I can connect with in [field]?" • "What events are coming up for [major/interest]?" Talking Points for Skeptical Audiences
Some colleagues or administrators may be cautious about AI tools. Here are clear, reassuring responses to common concerns:
- "Is this just ChatGPT?" — No. AI Search only searches your institution's own career center content. It has no access to the open internet and cannot produce unvetted or harmful information.
- "Does it replace career advisors?" — Absolutely not. AI Search helps students find resources at 2am when advisors aren't available. It does not provide personalized advice, emotional support, or the human connection that career advising offers. It's a complement, not a replacement.
- "What if it gives students wrong information?" — AI Search only surfaces content that has been published by your career center. It will not fabricate answers. If it can't find a match, it says so and directs students to career services.
- "Is student data safe?" — Yes. uConnect maintains SOC 2 compliance, and your institution's content and student data are never shared with other institutions. Learn more in our Privacy Policy.
Pro Tip: The most effective adoption strategy is modeling the behavior. Try AI Search yourself before you promote it to students — knowing what a great question looks like makes it much easier to encourage students to use it.
