This article walks you through how to use an AI assistant (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar tools) to automatically generate a site map spreadsheet for your uConnect platform. The result is a professional, color-coded .xlsx file that documents every page in your career center's navigation — perfect for onboarding, audits, accessibility reviews, and strategic planning.
You do not need any technical experience to complete this process. All you need is access to your uConnect platform URL and an AI chat tool. This typically takes under 5 minutes.
What You'll Need
- Your uConnect platform URL (e.g., careers.yourschool.edu)
- Access to an AI assistant — any of the following work:
- ChatGPT (chatgpt.com)
- Claude (claude.ai)
- Google Gemini (gemini.google.com)
- Microsoft Copilot (copilot.microsoft.com)
- Your institution's primary brand color hex code (optional, but recommended for a polished result)
💡 Tip: Not sure of your brand hex code? Check your institution's marketing or communications website — most schools publish their official color palette online. You can also use a browser color-picker extension to sample directly from your homepage.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Open Your AI Assistant
Navigate to your preferred AI tool and start a new chat. Make sure you are using a tool that can browse the web or fetch URLs — this is required for the prompt to work correctly.
⚠️ Important Note: Some AI tools require a paid plan to access web browsing features. If your AI assistant cannot fetch a live URL, the prompt will still generate a template structure — but it will need to be populated manually with your actual navigation links.
Step 2: Copy the Prompt Below

Step 3: Customize the Prompt

If the AI provides a file download link, click it to save the spreadsheet. If it displays the data as a table instead, you can ask: "Please save this as a downloadable .xlsx file."

Troubleshooting & FAQs
The AI says it can't access my URL.
Some AI tools require web browsing to be enabled. Check your tool's settings to turn on web access, or try a different AI assistant. If browsing isn't available, the AI can still generate a template structure — just ask it to use your navigation manually once you share the page names.
The spreadsheet is missing some pages.
AI tools can only see what's publicly accessible on your homepage navigation. Pages that require login, or links buried in body content, may not be captured. Review the output and add any missing pages manually in Excel or Google Sheets.
The colors don't match my brand.
You can follow up in the same chat with: "Please update the header color to #XXXXXX and redownload the file."
