# Customizing Labor Market Insights Module Page and Widget
## Make Labor Market Insights more intuitive and engaging for your students and alumni. This guide shows how to rename the module, add helpful instructions and graphics, and filter the widget by industry on specific community pages.

Labor Market Insights gives your users salary, employment, and skills data for thousands of occupations. Out of the box, though, the name "Labor Market Insights" may not immediately catch the attention of your students, alumni, and other stakeholders. You may also want to explain how to use the tool. A little customization can go a long way in driving engagement.
We recommend customizing the module for three main reasons:
- **A name that resonates.** Renaming the module in plain language helps users understand what it offers at a glance. Popular alternatives from uConnect partners include *Job Market Trends*, *Salary and Job Data*, *Salary Trends*, and *Employment Data Trends*. Any name that signals salary, job, or employment information works well.
- **Clear instructions.** Users can search Labor Market Insights in two ways. Explaining both options helps them get started quickly.
- **Context that fits the page.** Framing the module around a specific goal can make it much more useful. Examples include building skills, writing a resume, or prepping for an interview.
#### How users can search Labor Market Insights
When you write instructions for your users, it helps to describe both search options:
1. **Search by keyword.** Users can type in a skill, such as *Microsoft Excel*, *photo editing*, or *data analytics*. They can also type in an occupation, such as *teacher* or *accountant*. Next, they select a location and can narrow results down to a specific county.
2. **Browse by industry.** Users who aren't sure what to search for can select an industry first. This will show them related occupations. From there, they choose an occupation and a location.
### Edit the Labor Market Insights landing page
The Labor Market Insights landing page is built with the WordPress block editor. This gives you lots of flexibility to add descriptions, images, and other content.
1. From your **Admin Dashboard**, go to **Publish \> Pages**.
2. Find the page called **Labor Market Insights**. If you've renamed the module before, look for that name instead.
3. Click the page to open it in the block editor.
4. To rename the module, edit the page title.
5. Add a description in the text area. Explain how to use the module, include search instructions, and add any other helpful context. This text appears directly below the title and above the two search options.
6. *(Optional)* You can add more content by clicking the black **+** icon. This opens the block library, where you can browse images, patterns, and other blocks. For example, you could add a branded graphic or a photo of your students below your description.
7. Click **Save** or **Update** to publish your changes.
💡 **Tip:** Start simple! A short description with search instructions is a great first step. You can always add graphics and other blocks later.
### Filter industries on a community page
If you feature the Labor Market Insights widget on a community page, you can limit which industries appear. That way, users only see options relevant to that page. For example, a Creative Arts career pathway page could show only arts- and media-related industries.
1. From your **Admin Dashboard**, go to **Manage \> Communities**.
2. Open the career community or pathway page you'd like to edit.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and find the **Labor Market Insights / Job Search module mapping** area.
4. Select the industries you want to display on this page. For example, an Arts, Media & Communication page might include *Arts, Audio/Video Technology* and *Marketing*.
5. Click **Update**.
Now, when users browse by industry on that page, they'll only see the industries you selected.
### Get inspired: How other career centers customize Labor Market Insights
Here are a few ways uConnect partners have made Labor Market Insights their own:
- **Branded graphics on career pathway pages.** One community college created a custom graphic in their school colors, with the two search options explained directly in the graphic. They paired it with a photo of their students and a short description. They also added the module to every career pathway page.
- **A graphic-only approach on a job search page.** One business school skipped the text description entirely. They used a polished graphic featuring their mascot, the two ways to search, and a brief explanation. They placed the module on their job search page.
- **Resume-focused framing.** One university added the module to their Resume & Cover Letter community page and renamed it *Add These Skills to Your Resume*. They framed it as a way to research the skills needed for an occupation so students can tailor their resumes. Each occupation's results include **Technical Skills** and **Core Competencies** sections. These are a great source of keywords for students to add to their resumes.
**Branded graphic dimensions**: we recommend creating a graphic banner that is 1200x300 pixels for the best resolution and results!
You can also consider adding the module to an **interview prep** community page. For example, a student interviewing for an accounting role could review the skills required for that occupation. Then, they could practice answering interview questions based on those skills.

### Good to know
- Industry filters are set **per community page**. They don't change which industries appear on the main Labor Market Insights landing page.
- If you're not sure where your Labor Market Insights landing page is, check **Publish \> Pages** for any page you may have renamed.
- Labor Market Insights is an optional module. If you don't see it in your platform, contact your Customer Success Manager to learn more.
