[Communities](https://support.gouconnect.com/articles/manage-your-communities-content-categories#communities) # Add events to your community pages' banner images Promoting your events is one of the easiest ways to catch a user's eye with not only the great upcoming happenings in your office, but also the dynamic nature of your platform. When events are added into your platform through the Events content type, you can feature them in **Communities** either through widgets, or by turning on your Events Calendar Overlay. ![](https://support.gouconnect.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/image-Feb-25-2026-06-56-02-3675-PM.png) **Activating the Events Calendar Overlay** on a given Community means that when you have a header image added at the top of your Community, events can display over that image, on the right-hand side. To top it all off, **these events can be pre-filtered to just display events tagged to this Community** to really lean into the Community personalization. Read on to learn how to add events to your Community header image space, to look like the below! ## Step One: Navigate to the **Manage \> Communities** area of your platform ![](https://support.gouconnect.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/migration_img_70-1.png?width=235&name=migration_img_70-1.png) ## Step Two: Locate your desired Community and select 'Edit' **Pro Tip:** Use the search bar in the far-right corner to find your Community quickly! See the screenshot below. ![](https://support.gouconnect.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/image-Feb-25-2026-06-56-04-2556-PM.png) **Please Note:** This events overlay must be added on a Community by Community basis and that updating this setting on one Community will not change the layout of all Communities. ## Step Three: Scroll down to the 'Events Calendar Overlay' section If you have other calendars in your system, you will also have the option to select a different calendar instead of the default 'All' calendar. ![Screenshot of the 'Events Calendar Overlay' area within the settings section for a uConnect Community](https://support.gouconnect.com/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/Events+calendar+overlay-2.png) ## Step Four: Change the dropdown from 'Hidden' to 'All' The next step will be to determine if you would like to refine the types of events that display in the overlay. If you leave the 'Events Category' dropdown as 'None' then all Events in the system will display in the overlay, regardless of where they are tagged.
