Learn what happens to your subscriber lists at the end of the school year

How do I update subscriber lists between academic years?

Update subscriber lists between academic years to ensure that student subscribers continue to receive the most relevant content. Handle current students and graduating students separately: current students are moved to the next class tag automatically on August 1 and require no action. Graduating students must be uploaded via a new subscriber list using the Update option to transition their user type from Student to Alumni.

Current students (freshmen, sophomores, and juniors) are tagged by graduating year and, thus, do not require a new subscriber list as they will be automatically moved to the following class tag (eg. Freshman to Sophomore) on August 1.

Can I change the August 1 automatic update date?

Yes. The August 1 timeline is customizable. Submit a support ticket if you'd like to customize your Academic Start Date to earlier in the summer.

How do I transition graduating students to Alumni status?

Graduating students require a new subscriber list to transition to the Alumni user type. This also accounts for any seniors who may not have finished the academic year.

To apply this change:

  1. Create a subscriber list of graduating students that includes the following fields: first name, last name, email address, and SSO ID (required only if SSO is integrated with your uConnect platform and alumni have a unique ID).
  2. Go to Engage > Subscribers > Upload Subscribers and select the Update option to transition your subscribers' user type from Student to Alumni.

Where can I find instructions for formatting and uploading subscriber lists?

For instructions on how to format and upload your subscriber lists, see Upload a subscriber list.

Can I automate subscriber list updates?

Yes. To set up an automated subscriber list sync, see Integrating with your Student Information System (SIS) and automatic subscriber uploads.
