What are community tags?

Community tags aggregate and divide your site's content into career industries, academic majors, or audience types.  They are a way of organizing your blog posts, events, job posts, and resources according to topic.  Example community tags include "Business & Finance," "Department of Biology," or "Transfer Students."  By diligently tagging each piece of content, a transfer student, for example, can navigate your site or open an email and find the most relevant jobs, news, classes, and resources.

What are content category tags?

Content category tags divide content types into specific categories.  You can create a unique set of content category tags for each type of content on your platform - blogs, jobs, events, etc. For example, your blog categories might include "Student Success Stories," "Career Exploration," "Professional Advice," and "Interview Tips", while your Job Categories might include "Full-Time," "Part-Time," etc.  Each piece of content you publish will then include at least one of the tags from their unique set of content categories.

How do they affect automated emails?

When users select their email preferences, they can select their preferred community and content tags so that their automated emails are customized specifically to their interests.

On your end, just be sure to diligently tag each piece of content on your site to ensure that each automated email pulls the blogs, jobs, and resources that fit the selected tags of the receiver.
